Skills

Most individuals from deprived communities lack the required skills to essentially succeed due to multiple barriers e.g. permanent exclusion from school, teenage pregnancy, lack of skill, family issues/instability, homelessness, etc

Sports

Research shows sporting activities help build a healthier, stronger, happier, and safer community. A community that participates in sporting activities develop strong social bonds that would not have been otherwise possible due to multiple barriers, e.g. health issues, low income,e.t.c

Wellbeing

Currently, in England, an estimated 1.25 million children and young people have mental health difficulties. This is equivalent to one in eight young people. The effects of living with a mental health difficulty are both profound and pervasive, as it infiltrates many areas of a young person’s life, affecting their confidence, performance at school and their prospects of finding work. Without help and support, this can even lead to individuals taking their own lives.

Our Services

Find out about what we do, the services we run, and the people we help.

Food bank

We have been working in partnership with Ketra Community Bank in West Dulwich since 2020 during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic to support the vulnerable and families on low income in our community. We have created a new online referral form allowing people in need to self-refer themselves and we continue to take referrals from local organisations.

Training

We strive to provide positive diversions for young people that can really change their lives. Last year 8 young people gained their Level 3 qualification as Personal Trainers and we deliver free 100 hours of fitness classes to people in the community to help people with their mental health and general wellbeing.

Hygiene Bank

We are a community partner with West Dulwich Hygiene Bank. We believe feeling clean should not be a luxury or a privilege for anyone in our society. Sadly, there are many who live in poverty and cannot afford basic hygiene products in order to keep clean. Hence why we work to inspire social change for this reason by providing hygiene products to organisations that are working in the community to support those experiencing hygiene poverty.

Compilation Of Past Events

Our Impact.

Last year we supported over 2000 service users throughout Dulwich area. 88% of these local people and families live on estates which fall within 14% of the most deprived in London.

Our objective is to assist as many families as possible by empowering them to become true leaders in their communities. We assisted 142 people in finding work last year, and we trained 88 of them for paid employment. Our mobile food bank helped 482 people escape food poverty in only one year, and over the past two years, it has distributed over £20,000 worth of food donations to 782 local individuals and families since the beginning of 2020.

Over 171 kids and teenagers participated in the "One Mic, One Life" project last year, which involved them in engaging workshops that led to an awareness event for the entire neighbourhood.

We have a fantastic network of consistent volunteers who provide an average of 4 hours per week to running KETRA Mobile Food Bank and collaborating with neighbourhood families and partners on our many programmes and initiatives.
